Rules

         REGISTRATION

1)       A team is to consist of at least 6 registered players (over 18) at the start of the season.  No person under the age of 14 may play in the league.

2)       Each team is to complete the PLAYERS REGISTRATION FORM and return it to the League Organiser by the date stated on the form.

3)       A player is deemed registered to a team once they have signed the PLAYERS REGISTRATION FORM.  A player can only play for one team and cannot transfer, unless agreed with the League Organiser.

4)       NEW players can be signed on during the season by completing the new players signing on form and returning it to the League Organiser. This is to be received by 12 noon , the Saturday following the match.

5)       Any team/captain/player found falsifying signatures on the Result Sheet or any team playing an unregistered player will have 2 points deducted.

FORMAT FOR GAMES

1)       The Summer League season will be May to September.

2)       Teams are expected to fulfil ALL their fixtures and complete the season.  If for any reason a team cannot fulfil a fixture, the captain or a team representative is expected to contact the League Organiser as soon as possible to notify them.

Due to exceptional circumstances and providing the League Organiser and both captains agree, a fixture may be cancelled and re-arranged to be played on another night of the week.    If however this is not possible and a team cannot fulfil a fixture, rule 7 and 8 applies.

3)       The match shall consist of 12 Singles.   Matches will be played on a Tuesday Night and will start at 8.00pm prompt.  If by 8.05pm a player is not present then the "opposition" will be awarded the first frame.  If a player is not present by 8.10pm then the "opposition" will be awarded the second frame.  If by 8.15pm a player is not present then the "opposition" will be awarded the third frame.  If a player is not present by 8.20pm then the match will be forfeit.     The result sheet must still be completed in full and signed by the players of the innocent team and returned to the League Organiser to receive any points.

Captains are advised to phone the venue if the team is going to be late.  This time penalty is optional to Captains.  Instead of claiming frames, Captains can still play the frames even though the team has turned up late!

4)       The format is 10 singles and 2 Doubles.  ALL players must PRINT and sign their name PROPERLY before playing their match, HOME team first.

5)       A player can, if selected, play in 2 games of singles, ONCE in each half and in 1 Game of Doubles, so a team can consist of between 5 and 18 players.     If a player ends up playing singles twice in the same half rather than in each half, or ends up playing both doubles then 1 point will be deducted from the guilty team.

6)       A team must have at least 3 players to play a match, otherwise they will be classed as "Failing to Turn Up".  See Rules 7 and 8.  Captains, if you have a 14-17 year old in your side please make sure that you confirm with the venue first that they are allowed in the premises and can play.

7)       Teams failing to turn up to their match will receive No points.  The innocent team will be awarded a 12-0 frame score win and they will receive 2 points. The Guilty team will be given a YELLOW CARD.

If there is an exceptional circumstance as to why the team has not turned up, the YELLOW CARD may not be given by the League Organiser and in some instances, the League Organiser may ask for the game to be re-arranged instead.

The result sheet must still be completed in full and signed by the players of the innocent team and returned to the League Organiser to receive the above points.

8)       Teams failing to turn up for a total of 2 matches during the summer league season will be removed from the league and all points and frames reversed from the league table as if the team did not exist in the first place.

9)       Play must be CONTINUOUS.  Once a frame has been finished, the balls must be racked up immediately ready for the oncoming player to start the next frame

10)   The match sheet is the responsibility of the WINNING team. In the event of a draw the HOME team will be responsible for the match sheet.

This must be received by the League Organiser, 12 noon, the Saturday following the match.  If the Result Sheet is late or not received, points and frames will only be awarded to the innocent team.  If however, the Result Sheet is received with a 1st Class stamp after Saturday, but the postmark says posted Friday, then the points will be awarded.

11)   OLD EPA RULES to apply in all competitions. (copy enclosed), with the following changes:

a)       From the break, if the player pots a colour they can nominate the other colour that was not potted, however, they must pot that colour on their next shot, otherwise it is an “OPEN” table.

b)       On all shots (except in a total snooker) the player must either pot a ball, or after making initial contact with a colour, cause the cue ball or any object ball to contact a cushion.

12)   Refereeing is the responsibility of both teams.  All games are to be played in a Sportsmanlike manner.  Captains are to over-view matches and settle any disputes/complaints between themselves.

If for any reason a dispute/complaint cannot be settled on the night, the League Organiser must be notified of the dispute/complaint by 12 noon , the Saturday following the match.

If players/captains are unsure about a rule they may contact the League Organiser for confirmation.
